Jude Bellingham broke the deadlock as headed past substitute goalkeeper Hossein Hosseini, with Luke Shaw sending the cross in the first half. Bukayo Saka then doubled England’s advantage with a ferocious strike from inside the D, while Raheem Sterling connected a cross by Harry Kane on the volley to make it 3-0 to help England go into the interval with a three-goal cushion. Saka then went to complete his brace to extend England’s advantage, but Mehdi Taremi helped Iran open their account shortly after. Marcus Rashford, who came in as a substitute, then netted England’s 5th goal, before Jack Grealish made it 6-1 with an easy tap in. Iran were then awarded a late penalty, which was successfully converted by Taremi.
